When will the sun shine again in Cleveland?

It has been extremely dark here in Cleveland. I think I saw more sunshine in Toledo when I was there for the holidays than I have seen all month in Cleveland. Its really depressing, I wake up and its dark which makes waking up tough.
Anyway. So this weekend has been fun. Genevieve and myself went to see Juno at the Cedar Lee Theatres on Fri. night. A very good flick, its about a 16yr old girl Juno (Ellen Page) who gets pregnant by her friend Bleeker (Michael Cera). Faced with an unplanned pregnancy, Juno avoids aborting the baby and gives it to an adopting family (Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner). This is a very smart comedy directed by Jason Reitman. Highly suggest seeing this movie and there are some great one liners in the movie. Funny and Smart. Rating 5/5

Chimaira Xmas 8

Gen and myself kicked off last night by eating at Brennan's Colony on Lee Rd. Very good bar food and they had Great Lakes Xmas Ale on tap. So after there we made a stop at small bar called Becky's which is across the street from CSU for a $2 pint of labatt blue. So from there we head to Cleveland's premier concert venue..the House of Blues. Tonight was Chimaira's (a metal band from Cleveland) annual Xmas show. The openers were Terror and Kataklysm. However, a band called The End was suppose to be there but wasnt, I was a little disappointed, because they are a very good band. Terror put on a great, energetic show. Katakylsm was decent. Chimaira was very good, great set list, songs included "Nothing Remains," fan favorites "Severed" and "Power Trip." This was about my 6 time seeing these guys. Every cd they put out keeps getting better. There latest cd out is titled Resurrection. About half of the songs Chimaira played were of this cd, I highly suggests picking up this release.

CLEVELAND BROWNS

Oh yeah. Today, Alex (a grad student in my lab) and myself traveled in a blizzard down to Cleveland Browns stadium to see the Brownies beat the Bills in the Snow Bowl. We pregamed and listened to the first half of the game on the radio in my car. So after about 6 beers each, Alex and myself stumbled into the stadium. We decided not to sit in our assigned seats, instead we sat four rows from the field and here are few pictures taken from my camera phone. ENJOY

Another Cleveland Concert

Okay, well Gen and myself have just returned from the HOB in Cleveland. Tonight we saw three really good bands: opener mewithoutyou, co-headliner THRICE and the other headliner Brand New. So we got to the HOB around 630ish and started drinking immediately, Gen had three olives cherry and sprite and I had the usual Captain and 7up. The night kicked off with mewithoutyou, they played my favorite song "In a sweater poorly knit." So after a brief wait and two more Captain and 7up(s), the almighty THRICE took the stage. They played well over an hour and played hits such as "the artist in the ambulance," "stare at the sun," and closed with "the earth will shake." They played a great set, with a great mix of new and old songs. I cant wait for them to come back on a headlining tour. So up next is Brand New, a band that I have only see once but put on a phenomenal show. After a 20 minute wait, Brand New took the stage and opened with the radio hit "Sowing Season (Yeah)", and continued to play hits off their new cd God and Devil Are Raging Inside Me. Then Jesse Lacey (lead singer) jammed acoustic for a good half an hour. To me this slowed the show down tremendously and the crowd showed it, I think everyone was their for the more upbeat, older songs. But after the acoustic performance the rest of the band rejoind Jesse on stage and jammed classic "Sic Transit Gloria." Overall, I love Brand New to death but they had a weak set list and I mean weak. They left out key hits from Deja Entendu and Your Favorite Weapon cds. Personally, I think THRICE put on a better show and had a great set list.

Recap of the past two weeks.

After about 6 months of playing MLB THE SHOW, I finally got a new PS3 game: Uncharted:Drakes Fortune. Very fun and addictive game, its an adventure, first person shooter game. Just after three sittings of playing the game I have played a total of 8hrs and have completed 62% of the game (you may be thinking, who keeps track of that...my PS3 does every time I save the game). The premise of the game is to find Sir Francis Drake's hidden treasure.
